Psalm 47

1 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
2 For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.
3 He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.
4 He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.
5 God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
8 God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.
9 The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted

Key Verse:
8 God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.

Key Observation:
A picture of Christ reigning on earth with the Israelites.

Memory Verse:
1 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

Devotion:

Again the Bible says it; He is going to reign over the earth. He loves Israel and He is king of all the earth. The people of the God of Abraham—translation the Jews—are going to be part of that: “He shall subdue the people under us.” There is a lot of talk about giving parts of Israel up to the Palestinians; one former president seems passionate about it, and certainly our current president is passionate, but don’t you think you ought to be courteous and ask the Lord first? After all the Bible tells us that the earth is the Lord’s. He has given all of Israel to the Jews forever; it is not yours to divvy up as you see fit, and messing with it will probably result in the worst outcomes for you.

He is coming soon and as C. S. Lewis says, “He will soon set the world aright.” An enormous amount of people will find themselves opposing the will of God in that day. With one word He will end all opposition—it will be as if He laughs at those opposing Him (Psalm 2). With that end in mind, what will you do today to prepare for His coming? As I said before there is only one thing that God requires of you—believe in Him whom He hath sent. Prepare to meet your God, O Israel!
