Psalm 110

(ESV)
Sit at My Right Hand
A Psalm of David.
1 The LORD says to my Lord:
"Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool."
2The LORD sends forth from Zion
your mighty scepter.
Rule in the midst of your enemies!
3 Your people will offer themselves freely
on the day of your power,[a]
in holy garments;[b]
from the womb of the morning,
the dew of your youth will be yours.[c]
4 The LORD has sworn
and will not change his mind,
"You are a priest forever
after the order of Melchizedek."
5 The Lord is at your right hand;
he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath.
6 He will execute judgment among the nations,
filling them with corpses;
he will shatter chiefs[d]
over the wide earth.
7 He will drink from the brook by the way;
therefore he will lift up his head.

Key Verse:
4 The LORD has sworn
and will not change his mind,
"You are a priest forever
after the order of Melchizedek."

Key Observation:
A messianic psalm.

Memory Verse:
5The Lord is at your right hand;
he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath.

Devotion:

Matthew Henry: “This psalm is pure gospel; it is only, and wholly, concerning Christ, the Messiah promised to the fathers and expected by them.” (KJV) v. 3 “Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.” On this verse McGee has a beautiful quote from Spurgeon: “God will have more people saved than there will be lost.” The exact translation of the verse seems to be difficult; it is neither rendered such in NIV or ESV. But the idea of McGee I find fascinating here. He thinks that the verse is prompting the idea of the vast majority of people who will turn to the Lord in the millennium, an idea which seems biblical even if not found in this verse.

What a wonderful concept it is! That all should know the Lord, and follow him, and have faith in him. In today’s world, it is sometimes difficult for me in the state of California to find a Christian. I would not say that they are rare in California; they are uncommon. In that day it will be rare to find the person who does not know the Lord. How wonderful that day will be for mankind!

O That Will Be Glory

1. When all my labors and trials are o'er,
And I am safe on that beautiful shore,
Just to be near the dear Lord I adore
Will through the ages be glory for me.

2. When by the gift of His infinite grace,
I am accorded in Heaven a place,
Just to be there and to look on His face
Will through the ages be glory for me.

3. Friends will be there I have loved long ago;
Joy like a river around me will flow;
Yet, just a smile from my Savior, I know,
Will through the ages be glory for me.

Chorus:
O that will be glory for me,
Glory for me, glory for me;
When by His grace I shall look on His face,
That will be glory, be glory for me.
