The Shepherd Psalms

Yesterday, in the reading of the Psalms, I noticed that each Psalm in the twenties is a sort of a shepherd psalm. Check them out. For your convenience I included a key verse describing the title, but it might be more meaningful if you check the whole psalm out.

Psalm 20

The Guiding Shepherd

“May he give you the desire of your heart

And make all your plans succeed.” v. 4

Psalm 21

The Forever Shepherd

“He asked you for life, and you gave it to him—

Length of days, forever and ever.”  v. 4

Psalm 22

The Suffering Shepherd (Psalms 22, 23, and 24 Scofield inspired)

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” v. 1

Psalm 23

The Good Shepherd

“The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” v. 1

Psalm 24

The Chief Shepherd

“The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it,

The world, and all who live in it;” v.1

Psalm 25

The Teaching Shepherd

“Guide me in your truth and teach me,

For you are God my Savior,” v. 5

Psalm 26

The Judging Shepherd

“Vindicate me, LORD,

For I have led a blameless life:” v. 1

Psalm 27

The Providing Shepherd

“The LORD is my light and my salvation—

Whom shall I fear?

The LORD is the stronghold of my life—

Of whom shall I be afraid?” v.1

Psalm 28

The Protective Shepherd

“The LORD is my strength and my shield;

My heart trusts in him, and he helps me. v. 7

Psalm 29

The Vocal Shepherd

“The voice of the LORD is powerful;

The voice of the LORD is majestic. v. 4
